A social skills day camp just in time for back to school
Camp Connect is a summer program for children, ages 5-7, based on socio-emotional development. Children will play games, participate in activities and spend time outside, all while developing important skills that will help them build relationships, regulate their emotions and feel more confident.
The idea for Camp Connect came from Sanam’s Play Therapy practice, where she recognized that there is a need among the children in our society. Many of the children she was working with struggled with both making friends and with accepting themselves. You see, it is very challenging to connect with others when we aren’t fully loving and accepting ourselves. So Sanam set out to devise a fun and diverse curriculum that would teach children both: ways to recognize, accept and cope with their own emotions and to take these skills out into their relationships with others.
Through art, story-telling, games, music, compassionate free play, outdoor games and yoga children will explore how to make friends, how to be a leader and follow the leader, how to have and respect boundaries, how to recognize their own feelings and those of others, what to do with difficult feelings, bullying… and so much more!
